World Remembrance Day for Road Traffic Victims observed in Chirala

Chirala: The Rotary Club of Ksheerapuri, Chirala Zilla Sadhana JAC, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Traffic Police and BVG 108 have organized an awareness programme on road accidents and a rally in Chirala observing the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims on Sunday.

Secretary of the Rotary Club of Ksheerapuri and Chirala Zilla Sadhana JAC chairman and convener Tadivalasa Devaraju said that many families are being affected and the children are becoming orphans every year due to the accidents caused by negligent driving.

He said that the drivers should not only be aware of the traffic rules but should follow them every time. He said that they should remember that a family is dependent on them and waiting for them at home while driving.

Devaraju observed that most of the road traffic victims are youth and those who survived are being limited to beds as they were severely injured in the accidents. He said that the families of the victims are going bankrupt for the treatment of the injured and facing severe social and financial problems when they lose the main breadwinner.

The Prakasam District 108 manager Pirla Rakesh requested the public to be careful while they are behind the handle and steering wheel. He asked the public to give way to the 108 and other ambulances in traffic to help they reach the hospitals in time so that the doctors could save the lives of the road traffic victims.

The 108 staff supervisor Vishnu, Bhaskar, Srinu, Suneetha, Kishore and others also participated in the program.
