BMRCL Begins Land Acquisition for Namma Metro Phase 3 Expansion

Update: 2025-02-01 15:00 IST

BMRCL has started acquiring land for Namma Metro Phase 3, which will have two routes: Corridor 1 (32.15 km) from J.P. Nagar Phase 4 to Kempapura, and Corridor 2 (12.5 km) from Hosahalli to Kadabagere.

Important stations like Peenya, JP Nagar, Mysuru Road, and Sumanahalli will be key points where passengers can change lines.

BMRCL has already acquired 26,811 square meters of land for Corridor 1. For the entire Corridor 1, 1,29,743 square meters of land has been identified, involving 777 private properties. The project is being designed to minimize disruption to existing infrastructure.

The project will feature a double-decker viaduct, causing delays due to design changes. It is set to cost ₹15,611 crore, funded by loans and advertising revenue.

The fully elevated metro is expected to finish by 2029, serving 7.85 lakh passengers daily. Despite all approvals, delays continue because of the need for more land for stations and road adjustments.
