Miraj Cinemas opens multiplex in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Miraj Cinemas, the Mumbai-based multiplex chain, on Thursday launched its multiplex in the city at A2A Central Mall in Balanagar.

The new property has four screens and 1,078 seating capacity, supported with new technologies such as Dolby Atmos sound system and Barco laser projectors.

The new property follows the inauguration of a four-screen Miraj Cinemas: Shalini Shivani theatre at Kothapet in Hyderabad.

With this launch, Miraj Cinemas operates 125 screens at 45 multiplexes in 33 cities of 13 States across the country. Bhuvanesh Mendiratta, Vice President, P&L, Miraj Cinemas, said: "We have invested nearly Rs 200 crore pan India over the past five years.

Now, we aim to touch the 200-screen milestone by 2020. We will be rolling out 50 screens on an average each year from here on."

Mendiratta further said, in addition to Balanagar, the multiplex chain plans to add 30 more screens in five more properties of Telangana, in the next 12-15 months.

The expansion plan includes 30 more screens in South India by 2020, he said, adding that this aggressive expansion will be fuelled by an additional investment of Rs 200 crore by the company in the form of internal accrual and mix of debt and equity.
