Telangana News | Leopard spotted in Mulugu district

Tense moments prevailed in the villages around Kongala waterfall, as some villagers spotted the leopard perched atop a leafless tree.

The images of the leopard on the tree went viral on social media. Officials from the District Forest rushed to the spot and confirmed it was indeed a leopard, but asked people not to worry.

Officials from the Forest Department made a fervent appeal to the villagers in the Venkatapur mandal not to hurt a leopard that was seen on Monday near Kongala waterfall.

Pradeep Kumar Shetty, District Forest Officer (DFO), appealed to people not to hurt the goat. Officials suspect that deep into the forest the leopard had retreated and that it could not pose any danger. However, when going into the forest, individuals should exercise caution.

Just last October, villagers spotted a tiger under the Eturnagaram wildlife sanctuary, which is on the other side of the Godavari River, in the adjacent forest areas of Kannai Gudem mandal.
