K Renuka Raju, Founder, Lotus Learning Systems Society, Correspondent, Lotus National School & Chairperson and Managing Director, Kovida Ltd said "Lotus National School has set higher standards of eligibility criteria for admission into +2 sector oriented courses. Only students who have scored 50 per cent and above, can apply. Each course pathway calls for a different range of eligibility criteria, so that students will be successful in learning the course inputs. "

Introducing three levels of Mathematics curriculum and testing will lead to improvement in students' performance and achievement. Kovida Ltd, strongly advocates voluntary higher standards of student assessment by increasing the pass percentage from 35 to 50. Nowhere in the world is 35% (Grade-D) accepted as a standard. Globally 50% (Grade-C) is the minimum standard for promotion to the next class. Three levels of Math can make voluntary higher standards possible she added.

As it is not possible to implement this process overnight, Kovida suggests that an increase of 5 per cent every year will find acceptance among education stakeholders - school managements, teachers, parents and students.

Eligibility criteria

Kovida Ltd., firmly believes that student achievement should be termed 'Eligibility Criteria' and not categorised as 'Pass' or 'Fail'. Student's achievement is the Eligible Criteria for promotion to the next class or admission into college / career programs.
