Women may experience more asthma symptoms than men

Update: 2019-05-06 21:48 IST

Women with asthma go to the hospital for asthma treatment more often and use more quick-relief or "rescue" medicines than men with asthma do.

You can take medicines to help prevent and stop asthma attacks. You can also help prevent attacks by staying away from asthma triggers and following these steps: Monitor the air quality and pollen counts.

Stay inside when pollen is high, or air quality is bad. Use air conditioning. Ask your doctor about taking medicine right before you exercise.

Don't use household products with chemical irritants. Keep cockroaches away. Vacuum once a week.

Stay away from pet dander. Use the exhaust fan when cooking. Wash off allergens or pollutants.
