Army Dental College holds convocation

Secunderabad: Extolling the graduated dentists for imparting knowledge of oral health hygiene in people especially in rural areas, Major General RK Singh complimented the graduating students for the hard work put in by them over the years. He was speaking at the 14th Graduation Ceremony of Army College of Dental Sciences (ACDS), Secunderabad was held on Wednesday for BDS Batch 2014 and MDS Batch 2016.

The chief guest, Major General Singh, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Telangana and Andhra Sub Area (TASA) and Chairman, ACDS, complimented the graduating students for the hard work put in by them over the years and appreciated the faculty of ACDS for nurturing with utmost dedication the young greenhorns into mature professionals eager to face the real world.

Singh also extolled the parents for having made many sacrifices to provide their wards with an environment with financial and moral support despite all odds and reminded the graduates to remember the sacrifices made by their parents. Fourteen students were awarded the degree of masters in dental surgery while 39 students received bachelor degree in dental surgery.

The Chief of Army Staff Rolling Trophy for Best All Round BDS Student based on performance in academics, sports and extra-curricular activities was awarded to Dr Shiva Shakya and the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (Southern Command) Rolling Trophy for Best BDS Student in Academics went to Dr Ankush Kumar Shukla. GOC, Dakshin Bharat Area & Patron ACDS Rolling Trophy for overall Best MDS student was awarded to Dr Prateeksha Chowdhry.

ACDS, a NAAC 'A' accredited college, is amongst the top 15 dental colleges in the country. In addition to treating the local populace on a non-profit basis, the college is a referral centre for ECHS & ESIC patients. The function was attended by former Principals of ACDS, Senior Officers from the Army fraternity, proud parents of the graduating students, Faculty and students.
