Call to raise trees to maintain greenery

Patancheru: District BC Students Association president Balram advocated the need for raising trees for maintaining greenery.

Speaking after participating in the tree plantation drive of fruit and flower-bearing plants taken up at girls zilla parishad school by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority and Urban Forestry department, he called upon youth to take up plantation of saplings with the slogan 'VrukshoRakshathiRakshatha'.

He said the scents and pure air released by plants will result in people remaining healthy and that plants have many uses. He cautioned that if trees were not planted, there was a danger of groundwater not getting replenished and people getting afflicted with various ailments because of increasing pollution.

Hence, he stressed that everyone should grow trees and wanted officials to create green awareness among students.Among those present were school headmistress Leelavathi, Shivateja, Laddu, Ashok.
