Garbage, plastic pose threat to cattle

Update: 2019-04-27 03:39 IST

Rajendra Nagar: Due to the irresponsible dumping of garbage at Rajendra Nagar, the locals and commuters are facing hardships as it is emitting foul smell. There is also a rise in the number of stray dogs and rodents.

In this locality, large number of cows can be seen eating garbage and plastic covers from the dump, thus, losing their capacity to produce milk. With their owners abandoning them on the roads irresponsibly, they are dying quickly due to starvation and undernourishment.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Friday, one of the residents, said, "We informed the authorities many times and told them to shift the dump yard to some other place. The filth is spread over on the road and the cows and buffaloes that come to eat it, are blocking the road and creating problems to the motorists who pass-by."

Furthermore, he said that earlier, it was one or two cows, but now, there are many. There is a temple nearby and the foul smell spreads in the temple too, inconveniencing the devotees. We are concerned about the road as well as the cows as it can be harmful to them too. We request the authorities to come up with a solution for this."
