Himayatnagar: NFIW seeks arrest of BJP MP Parvesh Mishra

Himayatnagar: Activists of National Federation of Indian Women (NFIW) staged protest here Himayatnagar Y junction, seeking arrest of the BJP MLA Parvesh Mishra for his inappropriate comments against women. An effigy of the MP was burnt by the protestors during the protest.

Speaking during the protest, state general secretary of NFIW N Jyothi, said that women were being undermined after BJP came to power. She condemned statements by some BJP leaders from UP alleging improper dressing of women as possible cause for atrocities against women. She condemned the party for supporting accused in Unnav rape case.

State president Ustela Srujana alleged that BJP government had been supporting criminals who were involved in atrocities against women. She sought immediate arrest of BJP MP Parvesh Mishra for his inappropriate comments against women. NFIW leader Krishna Kumari, speaking on the occasion, condemned delay in hanging the Nirbhaya case convicts. She alleged that BJP government had been trying to rescue the convicts. Among those who participated in the protest include Potu Kalavathi, Munna Lakshmi Kumari, Nagamani, Vijayalaksmi, Apoorva and others.
