NCC camp for girls a huge hit

Secunderabad: The 7 Telangana Girls Bn NCC, Hyderabad organized a NCC camp for Girl Cdts from the twin cities. The camp being attended by 550 cadets since August 27 will conclude on September 5. Col Rajesh K Rao, Commanding officer 7(T) Girls Bn NCC, said, "The aim of the camp is to prepare the cdts for 'A', 'B' and 'C' certificate exams and shortlist and prepare cadets for Republic day contingent participation at Delhi 2020. During the Camp Cadets are also trained in weapon training and each cadet has to carry out .22 Rifle firing."

The cadets underwent physical training, drills, map reading, battle craft personality development and leadership. A tree plantation drive was also undertaken. 500 cadets are planting a sapling each at the camp site.

Aruna Kappagantula, a social entrepreneur, and her social enterprise Bamboo House India and Recycled India created a low-cost shelter made from Recycled plastic at the Bison Training Ground.

Maya Vivek and Minal Dalmia of 'Holy Waste,' a social enterprise, educated the girl cadets on recycling wastage and pollution by converting used flowers thrown out during poojas and other social events into incenses sticks, soaps and perfumes.

The camp was also visited by Dr Raghuram Padma Shri who educated the girl cadets on early detention & prevention of breast cancer. Prof Murgesan and his team conducted a workshop on menstrual health and hygiene for the girl cadets, dismissing all taboos, myths and misconceptions attached to menstruations. Shikha Goel, Additional Commissioner, Deputy Director General NCC Dte (AP & T), interacted with the cadets.
