New lease of life for Nigerian baby

Banjara Hills: One-month-old Nigerian baby, Ojomo, suffering from a fatal condition known as transposition of great arteries, was given a new lease of life by city doctors. Normally, children with this condition die within a year.

Explaining about the condition, Dr B R Jagannath, Head of Paediatric Cardiology Department, Star Hospital, said, "The artery to the lungs instead of arising from the right side is on the left side resulting in carrying impure blood to the body." "I am speechless and extremely grateful," said the relieved mother.
