People suffer as road works unfinished

Update: 2019-08-06 00:31 IST

Moosarambagh: Relaying of Pochampally Road is being neglected for ages. The road has been filled with dumping a few years ago. The government has sanctioned funds for the work. The work is not being executed as there is lack of coordination between officials.

Metal road costing Rs 4 lakh was laid from Musaram Bagh to Pochampally in 1976. This road helped bus service for about 20 villages. The same road has been blocked with dumping yard.

Corporator Vittal Reddy along with locals submitted a memorandum to ministers and Mayor asking them to take steps and ensure the road is made available for commuting. Mayor Bonthu Rammohan inspected the place and directed officials concerned to lay gravel road costing Rs 23 lakh. Deliberations were made on making it 22nd radial road 23rd connecting road to outer ring road.

Officials commenced the work with Rs 1.9 lakh in May 2018. The road has been laid for 2km extent. The work came to halt when forest officials objected stating that the road is passing through the department's land.

The locals urge officials of forest and municipal departments to look into the matter and take necessary action. They express worry stating that ministers and officials were changing but the road problem isn't being solved. Traffic jam would be solved from Vanasthalipuram to Outer Ring Road via Hayatnagar, they added.

Corporator Vittal Reddy said that the road has 100 years of history. "Forest officials are objecting renovating the road. GHMC is ready to sanction funds. This land was notified as road by Hyderabad Gazette in 1976," he added. Resident Prabhakar Goud said that the road is covered with dumping. If the dumping is cleared, one can see CC Road, he added.
