Police crack Brilliant College midnight heist; Rs 1.07 cr recovered

Hyderabad: Rachakonda Police have cracked the high-profile burglary at Brilliant Engineering College in Abdullapurmet, Hyderabad, recovering Rs 1.07 crore stolen from the campus office.

The theft, which occurred on October 10, involved a gang that used Google Maps to target the isolated college, breaking in at midnight and making off with money collected from student fees.

Police formed special teams and tracked suspects across multiple states, finally arresting two interstate burglars and a juvenile during a checkpoint operation. The gang divided the stolen cash on the spot, and police say three more accused are currently absconding.

The burglars broke into the administrative office using long screwdrivers and destroyed the CCTV DVR to eliminate evidence. Investigators suspect insider knowledge may have aided the heist since the criminals knew exactly where the money and surveillance footage were kept.
