Schoolchildren take part in Haritha Haram

Chandrayangutta: Students from different schools took part in the Haritha Haram programme which was organized by GHMC in coordination with NGO, Save Foundation on Friday. The children were educated as to how small saplings would grow into a huge trees providing not only green cover, but also helping in creating better environment around us.

Speaking on the occasion, Riyasath Nagar Corporator, Mirza Saleem Baig called upon the students to plant trees to ensure protection of the environment and for benefit of the future generations. Lalitha Bagh Corporator, Md Azam felt that it was responsibility of everyone to plant saplings towards ensuring human race survives on this planet.

Deputy Commissioner (GHMC), Shirley Pushyaragam, felt that plants provide proper conditions for sustenance of life on earth hence it was everyone's responsibility to plant saplings not only in schools, but also at their houses and surrounding.

The programme was attended by Deputy Project Officer, N Venugopal, Save Foundation, CEO, M Krishna, GHMC staff and school teachers and students from Government schools of Chandrayangutta, Lalitha Bagh and Private Schools, Vikas and Unique. The saplings were supplied by Vikas School.
