Vanara Sena files complaint against Rajamouli over Hanuman remark
Hyderabad: Director SS Rajamouli is facing a controversy after a complaint was lodged against him at the Saroornagar Police Station by the Rashtriya Vanara Sena. The complaint alleged that Rajamouli made derogatory remarks about Lord Hanuman during the launch event of his upcoming movie ‘Varanasi’ held on November 15 at Ramoji Film City.
Rajamouli reportedly expressed skepticism about the deity's role in helping his film project, saying, "I don't have a lot of faith in God," and questioned whether Hanuman was truly supporting them.”
These remarks have sparked outrage among some Hindu groups, who claim his comments hurt religious sentiments and have demanded strict police action, including his arrest.
Rajamouli had also shared a personal note about his wife's devotion to Hanuman, mentioning her close relationship with the deity and hoping for divine support. While the police have received the complaint, no case has been officially registered yet. The incident has triggered polarised reactions on social media, with supporters appreciating his honesty and critics accusing him of disrespecting Hindu beliefs. Authorities have yet to take formal steps in response to the complaint.
