Vexed residents lay siege to Ameenpur municipal office

Ameenpur: Residents of various colonies in the town, on the outskirts of mahanagar, laid siege to Ameenpur municipal office on Wednesday, after taking out a rally, demanding shifting of garbage dump yard located in the midst of residential areas and repairs to the main road which would enable them to travel smoothly.

The residents protested, asserting that they were paying crores as taxes and yet lacked the basic facilities. They wanted the road network to be expanded and repaired to get rid of potholes, while seeking a response from the public representatives and officials.

Addressing the protestors, Municipal Commissioner Vemana Reddy assured that the dump yard would be shifted in two months away from residential areas to a new location spread over 10 acres. He promised to provide vermi compost facility out of the garbage collected. Tenders would be called shortly for taking up road repairs, he added.
