Hyderabad: National BJP OBC Morcha president Dr K Laxman said that the party was taking the GHMC elections as a prestigious one, and key step in its mission to unseat the TRS-Majlis government in the State Assembly elections in 2024.

He said that people of Dubbaka had shown the way making the democracy win in the recent bypoll, despite the conspiracies hatched, official machinery misused and large-scale purchase of votes by the ruling TRS.

"Hyderabad is not an exception and the BJP will hoist its flag in the ensuing GHMC elections and will defeat the designs of TRS to handover the mayorship and the Hyderabad city to the Majlis," he said.

He said that people have been angry with the TRS especially during the Covid where the poor contracted with Covid had to come back as corpses. The loot of private hospitals for Covid treatment had left the poor, backward, Dalits and other people lives in the doldrums.

However, the "father and son duo" (CM KCR and Minister KTR) did not go out even to provide the much-needed relief to the people. He alleged that the government had miserably failed in addressing the woes of people affected in the recent floods in the city. Laxman said that the floods in Bihar were more severe than those in Hyderabad. Yet, the NDA government headed by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had handled it more effectively.

This was well reflected in the election results of 50 bypolls took place across the country, in which, the BJP had won 40 seats.

Vowing to expose the corruption of the TRS corporators, he said, the Centre under Prime Minister Narendra Modi could disburse financial assistance through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) in the beneficiaries' accounts directly. But, Rs 300 crore have been siphoned off out of Rs 550 crore flood relief announced by the State government, he added. He said that the party was well prepared to face elections even if they take place tomorrow.

The former BJP state chief dared to prove that the TRS had delivered its electoral promise of constructing one lakh double bedroom houses.
