ZPHS girls taught to make reusable sanitary napkins

aaIsnapur: Social activists Charlotte and Russell from the UK visited the Zilla Parishad High School here on Thursday. They trained 15 girls how to stitch reusable sanitary napkins. They brought raw materials from UK. Charlotte gave a presentation on girl and women hygiene to the students.

She said they have to come out of the taboo of periods as it is physiological phenomenon in the female body and take care of their hygiene during the periods. So that they can improve their health and concentrate on learning in the school.

Charlotte and Russell presented three laptops and a projector to the school. They presented about 600 reusable sanitary napkins to the school. ROSE, Rural Organisation for Society Empowerment, which arranged the visit of foreigners has been promoting girl's hygiene for some time. Rose already placed orders for installing the sanitary napkin vending machine and an incinerator In the ZPH School, Insnapur.

To have continues supply of sanitary napkins, Charlotte trained the schoolgirls in the tailoring centre, with the assistance of tailoring teacher Easwari. ROSE established the tailoring training centre at the school for girls and also funding the tailoring teacher salary etc.

Vice-President of ROSE, Y V Rao, and head-mistress Sapandana thanked the donors. V Seshaiah, Dr GVN Rao, Reena and other ROSE team members were present.
