Khammam: BJP senior leader, RTI activist stabbed to death in Wyra

BJP leaders conducting protest at Wyra town on Sunday demanding justice for senior leader Rama Rao’s family 

Khammam: BJP senior leader and RTI activist N Rama Rao was allegedly murdered by his close friend at his house on Saturday morning in Wyra town. It had created sensation among the people in the district as after long time the district witnessed a murder.

According to police, financial transactions was the reason behind his murder. According to Wyra DSP K Satyanarayana, N Rama Rao (35) had been living in Wyra town with his mother.

On Saturday morning at around 7.30 am, a person entered into Rama Rao's house and stabbed him with a knife. Rama Rao's mother tried to catch the accused, but he fled from the scene after stabbing Rama Rao. Neighbours who heard Rama Rao's mother shouting, rushed to his house and shifted him to Khammam head quarter hospital. But he died on the way to the hospital. After preliminary inquiry, the police suspected that Rama Rao's close friend might have killed him. Rama Rao had taken Rs 15 lakh from a trader through his close friend long back but was allegedly not repaying the same. This had led to a huge fallout between him and his friend for last few days. It is suspected that frustrated over the issue, they might have resorted to this.

Police officials noticed knife injuries in seven places on Rama Rao's body. BJP's District party chief Galla Satyanarayana condemned the murder of Rama Rao. And said that he brought out many corruption cases as an RTI activist in the district. Satyanarayana alleged that it is a political murder and the facts should be brought out.

Earlier, the BJP activists in the district participated in a protest rally outside the ACP's office at Wyra demanding justice to Rama Rao's family and the arrest of the accused immediately.

After the ACP had made promises to the BJP leaders, they had stopped their protest. BJP Kisan Morcha State president K Sridhar Reddy along with many other party leaders had participated in the protest programme.
