1.16 crore cash, cricket kits seized

Tirupati: The police seized Rs 1.14 crore cash at Vadamalapeta toll plaza in the early hours of Thursday. Renigunta Rural CI and Vadamalapeta SI found the cash hidden in a car.

The car was heading to Chennai. The police took two persons into custody. At the same toll plaza, the police caught Rs 2.44 lakh cash and 35 cricket kits in a vehicle. All the seized cash and articles were handed over to the Returning Officers (ROs) concerned to take further legal action. The police have intensified vehicle checking across the district by setting up additional check-posts.
