Tirupati: SV Pranadana scheme becomes a ray of hope to poor patients

Tirupati: SV Pranadana scheme initiated by Sri Venkateswara Pranadana Trust (SVPT) launched by the TTD has become a beacon of hope to thousands of poor patients during the last 19 years.

The charitable trust of TTD has provided crores of rupees every year since the launch of the scheme in 2001 to provide free medical facilities to the needy who are afflicted with life threatening cardinal elements like cardiac, renal, cancer and urology ailments.

It was of immense use to the poor patients who could not bear the expensive treatment costs. Starting from Rs 10 lakh now the TTD has been allocating Rs 1 crore per month to SVIMS to provide treatment to the patients. As the need for performing various complex procedures, the allocation has become inadequate and the SVIMS has been looking for more funds.

It may be recalled that TTD has spent Rs 107.30 crore for surgeries and treatment procedures under this scheme until now through which 20,763 patients have benefitted.

SVIMS Director-cum-Vice Chancellor Dr B Vengamma told The Hans India that the Chairman of TTD Trust Board Y V Subba Reddy has responded positively to enhance the allocations under Pranadana scheme. As only the deserving patients will be selected, more funds are required to perform the required procedures on them.

At present, if it crosses the monthly Rs 1 crore budget, SVIMS has been adjusting the balance amount in the next month. She hoped that TTD would earmark more budget under the scheme soon. TTD Chairman during his visit to SVIMS a couple of days ago for an interaction with patients, who benefited under the scheme, hinted that the matter to increase the budget allocations under the scheme will be discussed in the Trust Board soon.

The Director said that there was a need to perform various new procedures under the Pranadana scheme which are not covered under Aarogyasri. She added the surgeries under the scheme were held even during Covid times for those who required them immediately.
