Alka lamba quits AAP to rejoin Congress

New Delhi : Days after meeting Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi, AAP's disgruntled MLA Alka Lamba on Friday said the time has come to resign from the primary membership of the Aam Aadmi Party.

Lamba on Tuesday met Gandhi, fuelling speculation of her joining Congress. "The time has come to say Good Bye to #AAP and to resign from the primary membership of the Party. The past 6 years journey was a great learning for me," Lamba said in a tweet on Friday.

Hours after resigning from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), disgruntled leader Alka Lamba on Friday said she will be rejoining the Congress. Lamba said that she will be joining the Congress again in the presence of interim President Sonia Gandhi at her residence at 10, Janpath.

"I will be going to the residence of Sonia Gandhi at 6 p.m. and will take the primary membership of the Congress in her leadership," she told the media. A former Congress leader, Lamba quit the party to join the AAP and won the 2015 Assembly election from Chandni Chowk. The announcement of her rejoining the Congress came hours after she quit the AAP. She had met Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday.

The Chandni Chowk MLA took to Twitter saying: "The time has come to say 'Good Bye' to AAP and to resign from the primary membership of the party." Lamba, who has not been on the same page as the AAP on various issues for the past several months, had said in August that she will quit the party.
