Congress MLA Asks Kerala Govt To Come Clean On Missing Guns, Ammunition From Police Battalion
Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Congress on Wednesday, flew hammer and tongs at the Pinarayi Vijayan government on the findings of the Comptroller and Auditor-General (CAG) report stating 25 rifles and 12,061 live cartridges are missing from the Kerala Police's Special Armed Police Battalion. Congress MLA PT Thomas remarked that chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan's "approach to these allegations is very suspicious."
The Kerala chief minister should reveal whether the government is aware of these incidents or not, Thomas remarked. He added that if the chief minister is unaware, the Kerala DGP, Lokanath Behera should be sacked from his post as police chief of the state.
Thomas further observed that the case should be probed by a central agency like the CBI.

The Kerala Police Crime Branch however, found that no guns in the state armed police battalion are missing as reported by the CAG. The crime branch team physically verified 647 rifles of the 660 on Monday. It reported that the rest of 13 rifles were being used by recruits of the India Reserve Battalion (IRB) who are undergoing training with the BSF in Manipur.
