Kerala: MP's wife cracks rape jokes online, faces criticism

KOCHI: MP Hibi Eden's wife harboured controversy after posting on her Facebook profile with a caption: "Fate is like rape if you can't resist it then try to enjoy it"

Anna Linda Eden deleted the post and issued a clarification.

Her post, accompanied with a wink emoji was attached with visuals of the sudden flooding in Kochi city on Monday and Hibi Eden having dessert.

Anna faced severe criticism for trivializing rape. Hashtags like '#SayNoToRapeJokes' and #EndRapeJokeFilth came to the forefront while pointing out that her post hurt the sentiments of rape survivors and their families. In response, Anna wrote an elaborate post on Tuesday.

"I was going through a really tough time. I was not trying to insult the gruesome state that many women had to face...I am extremely sad that such a misunderstanding happened due to my post. I express my regrets," she wrote in Malayalam.
