Polavaram will be completed early: Union Minister

New Delhi: Union minister of state for Jal Shakti Rattan Lal Kataria here on Monday said the Centre was doing everything to complete the Polavaram irrigation project at the earliest and the Union finance ministry had taken a number of steps for expediting the works which included providing 100 per cent of the remaining cost of the irrigation component only of the project for the period starting from April 1, 2014 to the extent of the cost of the irrigation component on that date.

Accordingly, it had reimbursed Rs 6,764.16 crore so far, he said. In addition, the Dam Design and Review panel under the chairmanship of a former chairman, Central Water Commission and an expert committee headed by Member of CWC had been constituted for regular monitoring too.
