Reshuffle of Union Cabinet on cards

New Delhi: The NDA government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is likely to see its first reshuffle by September, according to sources familiar with the development.

The sources indicate that the process of appraisal of ministers is likely to be initiated over the coming weeks as the Prime Minister looks to evaluate the progress achieved in different departments by various ministers against the targets set for them.

It is being rumoured that the Prime Minister wanted to bring in new, younger faces, technocrats and public figures into the Cabinet. It is said that a few ministers will also be sent packing, while the portfolios of some others may be reallocated. Former Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party a few months ago, is certain to be made a Union minister, while former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, may find a place in the Cabinet.
