Kakinada: “The Supreme Court has determined a specific percentage of damage for the road accident victims according to their age,” said noted advocate Yanamala Ramam.

While speaking at a free legal aid awareness camp organised by the Legal Service Authority at Sarpavaram Junction on Sunday, he informed that about half of the road accident victims were under 34 years of age. “A family should approach court for damages if the primary earner had been killed in an accident.”

In many accident cases, the damages were not been sanctioned on time citing multiple reasons for the delay. The apex court has decided to speed up the process. He said that the Supreme Court determined the percent of damage according to the age of the accident victims and their ability to earn, for the benefit of the families of the victims. He further added that due to this change in the law, one can receive accident claims faster with the help of the Lok Adalat.  Adabala Ratna Prasad and the local residents participated in the legal awareness camp.
