Rally held to mark World Kidney Day

Vijayawada: City Police Commissioner Gautam Sawang said with regular exercise and by following diet discipline one can be fit with good health. He appreciated the Andhra Pradesh Society of Nephrology (APSN) for organising awareness camps to educate and create awareness on kidney related diseases in women.

The Commissioner was the chief guest of the awareness rally to mark World Kidney Day (WKD). He flagged off the rally at Ramesh Hospitals here on Thursday. APSN vice-president and Aruna Kidney Centre head Dr N Ammana said kidney related diseases were more in women when compared to men according to reports. He said auto immune diseases were more in teenagers and pregnant women. Patients should consult Nephrologist and get kidney check regularly, he added.

He said that all the 110 Nephrologists in AP would conduct free awareness camps at their hospitals for women. He said that with the government support they would provide volunteer medical services to the people suffering from kidney diseases at Krishna district A-Konduru tandas, Uddanam of Srikakulam, Kanigiri of Prakasam districts, he added.

National Handloom brand ambassador Reshmi Takoor appealed to all the women to participate in such awareness rallies and get more knowledge on health. Placards were displayed and pamphlets were distributed on the occasion. NTR University vice-chancellor Dr CV Rao, Andhra Pradesh Medical Council Chairman Dr Raja Rao and others participated in the rally.
