APIRIA striving to curb female foeticide

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh State Indian Radiology and Imaging Association (APIRIA) was striving to stop female foeticide and trying to save the girl child by calling upon all the members of the association to stay away from providing unauthorised training in ultrasound, said newly elected APIRIA president Dr GV Mohan Prasad on Sunday.

Dr Mohana Prasad was elected president of the Andhra Pradesh State Indian Radiology and Imaging Association at the annual general body meeting held here on Sunday. Later, addressing a gathering, he said the association was formed in 2015 and was involved in various academic and social activities.

He said that the fourth state radiology conference will be held at Kakinada on July 28 and 29 with main agenda of women empowerment, disbursement of scholarships, adopting a few girl students.

He said they would promote the study and practice of diagnostic radiology and imaging modalities, including X-ray, ultrasound, CT, MRI, PET-CT/ MRI, medicine molecular imaging and interventional radiology and others, by periodical scientific sessions and seminars. APIRIA secretary Dr Mohana Prasad, Dr  Dr KRK Varma, Dr K Chandrashekar and Dr D Srihari Rao were present.
