Vijayawada: Multiplexes in the city started selling the Rs 125 ticket for Rs 200 for the movie ‘Naa Peru Surya Na Illu India’ stating that they had obtained permission from the High Court.

When contacted the management of Inox Urvasi said that they had obtained the court permission to collect additional fare. They had even showed the permission issued by the Joint Collector of Krishna district.

In fact, the managements of 43 theatres, including multiplexes, approached the High Court seeking permission to collect Rs 200 per ticket.
The High Court at Hyderabad stated that it was the district administration which had to give permission and asked the managements to approach the district administration.

Joint Collector Vijaya Krishnan told The Hans India that following the High Court order, her office had given permission to collect Rs 200 for only three days. However, she directed the theatre managements to maintain an escrow account and deposit the additional amount collected in that account till the final decision was taken.

The notable point is that these multiplexes are given ad-hoc permission to charge Rs 200 for three days only. It may be recalled that the multiplexes managements and even single screen theatres collected additional ticket fare during the release of Bahubali-The Conclusion.

They had brazenly collected the additional ticket fare for four weeks though they had no permission. In addition to the additional fare, the multiplexes are notorious for selling combo tickets forcing the audience to buy eatables at an exorbitant price.
