Huge response to ‘Save Godavari’

Rajamahendravaram: Under ‘Save Godavari’ programme, students of various schools have been cleaning River Godavari at Pushkar Ghat from morning to evening for four days now.

Hundreds of students participated in the river cleaning programme.

Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sumit Kumar Gandhi also participated in Save Godavari programme along with local channel managing director Pantham Kondala Rao.

Speaking on the occasion, Gandhi said that everyone should participate in Save Godavari programme.

Everyone should put in their efforts to maintain cleanliness in the river and protect its sanctity.

He appealed to the people not to throw garbage into the river as many people across the country visit the historical city and later takes a dip in the holy river.

Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation was also trying to maintain sanitation at all the bathing ghats in the river and giving top priority to save the river from pollution, he said.

He asked Save Godavari programme organisers to continue their efforts in this regard in future also and assured to extend necessary help from the corporation.
