Army aspirants sweat it out in rain

Kakinada :  The Army recruitment rally  which began on July 6 reached seventh day on Thursday with candidates sweating it out despite continuous rains. The rally will conclude on July 15.  

The day for the candidates begins with standing in queues at 11 pm. Each batch consisting of 400 will have to run for 1,600 metre .The process continues till  dawn. In total, 308 candidates were selected for medical examination out of  the 3,750 appeared on Thursday.

The Army authorities for the benefit of the candidates divided  the attendance district-wise and on Wednesday night, it was the turn of candidates from Srikakulam and Vizianagaram distinct

Due to heavy rains in the last five days, the  District Sports Authority Ground where the process is  going on turned slippery for the candidates.  In addition,  candidates are being forced to run in rain and on the slippery ground for physical fitness toasts. Some  of them sustained injuries  when they fell on ground due to slippery conditions. East  Godavari joint collector , A. Mallikarjuna responded.

When The Hans India brought the plight of candidates to the notice of  joint collector A Mallikarjuna,  he said that  the East Godavari administration was acting as infrastructure and  amenities providers for the conduct of the recruitment rally . “I told the recruitment  officials many times to postpone the programme due to weather  conditions, but I was told that the programme cannot  be postponed under any circumstances,” Mallikarjuna said.
