Internal squabbles mar TDP in Kadapa

Update: 2018-07-30 05:30 IST

Kadapa: Though the ruling TDP has bright chances to win at least six Assembly segments in the district, internal squabbles in the party may hit its prospects in the ensuing elections.

It may be recalled that TDP was able to win only one Rajampet Assembly seat against 10 seats and 2 Parliament constituencies by having electoral alliance with BJP in 2014 elections. After Rajasekhar Reddy had met with tragic end in chopper crash on 2nd September 2009, the Rajasekhar Reddy’s family  continues to get people’s sympathy which benefits YSRCP.

`Operation Akarsha’ helped TDP to increase its strength to three in the district as YSR Congress MLAs C Adinarayana Reddy, T Jayaramulu  representing Jammalamadugu and Badvel joined the party.

With the same spirit, TDP was able to win two MLC seats in the local body MLC elections. Effective implementation of various welfare schemes, including settlement of R&R package to Gandikota reservoir displaced persons and 11-day indefinite fast conducted by Rajya Sabha member CM Ramesh for steel plant helped TDP.

But political differences between local leaders  and dissidence continued to prevail in Jammalamadugu, Mydukuru, Proddaturu, and Badvel segments. In Proddaturu, party in charge J.Varadarajula Reddy opposing the involvement of R S member CM Ramesh in to the political matters of the constituency.

It may be recalled that conduction of review meeting with municipal officials by CM Ramesh without allowing Proddaturu Municipal Chairman Asam Raghu Rami Reddy , party in charge J.Varadarajula Reddy created tension in the town on Saturday. Similar situation is seen in Jammalamadugu segment due to differences between Minister C Adinarayana Reddy and MLC P.Rama Subba Reddy as the duo are aspirants from the same constituency in the ensuing election.

Party in-charge and TTD Chairman Putta Sudhakar Yadav is expecting party ticket from Mydukuru segment. There is no major competition for him. But there exists displeasure among party cadres. The party activists complain that welfare scheme benefits are going to the people belonging to his community. Former Congress MLA DL Ravindra Reddy is ready to join TDP if party accepts his entry. In such case, either he or his daughter expect party ticket in 2019 elections.

Political differences between former Badvel MLA P.Vijayamma and present MLA T Jayaramulu persist as the duo are openly openly criticising during party meetings. T.Jaya Ramulu who bagged victory on YSR Congress ticket against TDP aspirant ND Vijaya Jyothi in 2014 elections, later joined with TDP. Due to his differences with P.Vijayamma, SC community people have divided into two groups.

When contacted by Hans India party district president R.Srinivasulu Reddy said differences are very common in any political party and  they would be sorted out very soon.
