MRPS opposes changes in SC/ST act

Rajamahendravaram: Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) district president K Ragu demanded, that the Central government include SC/ST Atrocities Prevention Act in 9th schedule of Constitution, which is the need of the hour.

He also asked the Central government to bring an ordinance immediately for the survival of the act. Speaking to reporters at Press Club here on Tuesday, he said that the act should be continued intact without any amendments, as it was a shield to SC/STs. 

“How can the Central government try to amend the act where lives of crores of SC/STs depend on the act. The SC/STs cannot be a mere spectators, if the Central government takes any wrong decision to dilute the act,” he warned.
