Minister lists out development works

Guntur: Minister for Roads and Buildings and District In-charge Minister Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu said that the government has taken up the development works in Amaravati at a cost of Rs 24,000 crore and works are going on at a brisk pace.

He hoisted the National Flag to mark the 72nd Independence Day celebrations at the Police Parade Grounds here on Wednesday and received the guard of honour from police, NCC Cadets, Scouts and Guides.

Speaking on the occasion, he further stated that the government completed the tender process for the construction of five iconic towers, including Secretariat, government offices, High Court and Assembly, to be built in 10.63 lakh square feet for which designs are ready.  

He said that the government is implementing the welfare schemes for the poor despite resource crunch and urged the eligible avail the benefits of the welfare schemes.

He said that district administration distributed crop loans worth Rs 3,650 crore to the farmers through various banks and Rs.45 crore loans were distributed to the tenant farmers and reminded that they distributed 112 tractors worth Rs 33 crore subsidy to the farmers for farm mechanisation. He said that the government distributed Rs 112 crore compensation to the farmers whose crop was damaged in the district. 

He said that the government has taken steps to divert flood water in Kondaveetivagu stream into the Krishna river at a cost of Rs 237 crore. He said the government is constructing 80,000 houses under the PMAY scheme at cost of Rs 1,013 crore in the district. District Collector Kona Sasidhar, Guntur Urban SP Ch Vijaya Rao, Guntur Rural SP Ch Venkata Appala Naidu were among those present.
