2 youth burnt alive by rivals in East Godavari

Kakinada: Two youth were burnt alive at Sankhavaram under Annavararam police limits in East Godavari district on Thursday. The deceased were identified as Battina Nooka Raju,29, and Battina Prasad, 27.

According to sources, Nooka Raju and Prasad had old rivalry with accused Puli Sudhakar and Rajendraprasad of the same village. Both hail from SC community. About a year ago the community elders patched up the two groups.

But on Thursday, the two groups met at a wedding ceremony at relatives’ place. As tempers ran high, Nooka Raju and Prasad attacked Sudhakar and Rajendraprasad with lethal weapons resulting in serious leg and hand injuries to both.

In retaliation, Sudhakar and Rajendraprasad along with their supporters attacked Nooka Raju and Prasad who took shelter in bridegroom’s house. The accused and his supporters closed the doors of the house and set it on fire.

In the incident, both  Nooka Raju and Prasad were burnt alive.  Meanwhile, Sudhakar and  Rajendraprasad got admitted into a private nursing home for the injuries they sustained  in the attack. Peddapuram DSP Ch V  Rama Rao visited the place of offence and took  10 persons into custody.
