As part of the state-wide campaign, NECC consultant K Balaswamy addressed media conference in Vijayawada on Saturday. He said storage and proper cooking of egg is very important. He said Andhra Pradesh is the largest producer of eggs in the country and about 150 truck- loads of eggs are exported to North Eastern states every day.  He said the State government has decided to provide eggs to children for five days in a week. He said the eggs are also supplied free of cost to Junior colleges and patients in hospitals undergoing treatment under NTR health card scheme.

Balaswamy said the egg is rich in proteins and have calcium, vitamin B2, iron, fat, folic acid, vitamin D and other acids, which are good for health.  He regretted that some bad propaganda is going on in some sections of the media in recent weeks about the quality of eggs and size of eggs being supplied by the government to the schools and Anganwadi centres.

He said the weight of the egg is between 40 and 50 grams and all eggs have same ingredients and are useful for health.  He said boiled egg is good for health and he made it clear  that there are no plastic eggs and China eggs. He said all eggs are collected from poultry in the state.
