Roundtable demands solution to sanitation staff problems

Eluru: With the strike by sanitation workers entering the seventh day, an all-party roundtable was organised here on Wednesday. 

The meet wanted the TDP government to resolve the genuine demands of the employees.

CPM city secretary P Kishore presided over the meeting. The speakers criticised the government for ignoring the agitation by sanitation workers.

The roundtable condemned the attitude of the ruling party MLAs in threatening the striking workers. 

The TDP which boasts of its programme Dalita Tejam was reluctant to notice the presence of Dalits in sanitation workers, they criticised.

CPI district secretary Dega Prabhakar, CPI-ML-New Democracy leader U Venkateswara Rao, BJP city president Nagam Siva, the Congress city president Rajanala Rammohan Rao, YSRCP corporator Karri Srinivasa Rao, Jana Sena leader M Bobby, MCPI district secretary Penmatsa Appalaraju, IFTU leader Reddy Appla Naidu, CITU district president B Somaiah, AITUC district president K Krishnamacharyulu and others spoke on the occasion.

The roundtable resolved to organise a rally in the city on Thursday.
