Plea to reduce use of plastic

Guntur: Former MLC Dr Rayapati Srinivas stressed on need to reduce use of plastic which will take more time to be absorbed by the soil.

He addressed a meeting held at the JKC College in Guntur district on Thursday. 

The programme was conducted by the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Field Publicity Wing, Krishna and Guntur districts. 

Srinivas said that plastic pieces in the land obstruct the water from absorbing in the soil.

GMC additional commissioner K Ramachandra Reddy explained steps taken by the GMC to beautify Guntur city and urged the people to keep their surroundings clean. He requested people to separate dry and wet garbage and give it to the garbage collection workers.

GMC public health officer Dr G Sobha Rani urged people to construct toilets for women’s self-respect. 

Field Out Reach Bureau officer KSR Murthy urged the people to allot at least two hours for Swachhta in a week. 

JKC College principal Dr I Nageswara Rao and others participated.
