Home Guards Rising Day celebrated

Kakinada: The 56th Rising Day of home guards was organised at East Godavari Police Parade Grounds here on Thursday.

While complementing the services of home guards after taking guard of honor from the  contingent of  home guards, district SP Vishal Gunni said that the home guards system came into existence in the year 1962 during  China War.  It indicates the importance of the existence of this system, the SP said.

Since then the services of these home girds were being utilised for emergencies only and now they were on par with police constable system, the SP revealed.

Neha Gunni, wife of SP also participated and presented rewards for best service to home guards.
