Accused in 190 house breaking cases held

Visakhapatnam: After striving hard for more than 100 days, around 33 policemen from the city, who formed a team to nab an offender, who was accused in over 190 house breaking cases taken place at various places in Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Rajamahendravaram and Vijayawada has come to an end.

Addressing the media here on Friday, City Police Commissioner Mahesh Chandra Laddha said that the relentless efforts of their policemen had completed successfully after arresting Dunna Krishna alias Raju alias Preetam Singh, a native of Sapara village, Miliaputti mandal of Srikakulam district, at present residing at Ravuri street, Bobbili of Vizianagaram district.

According to police, the offender committed crimes under MVP police limits (25 cases), Dwaraka nagar(6), IV Town (2), III Town (1), Airport zone (1) of Visakhapatnam city along with Srikakulam (1), Vizianagaram (1) and Rajamahendravaram (1) cases were confessed. During investigation, the accused had confessed around 38 cases which were taken place at various police station limits.

After selecting the door locked independent houses in night, Dunna Krishna enters the houses by breaking the main door locks with a rod and open windows.  Previously he was sent to C-jail Visakhapatnam, district jail of Vijayawada, district jail of Srikakulam and C-jail of Rajamahendravaram and he was convicted in more than 100 cases under Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Rajamahendravaram. After completion of conviction period on October 14, 2017 he committed all the offences, said Mahesh Chandra Laddha.

Regarding the 38 cases, a team led by ACP (CCS) Y Govinda Rao had recovered a booty worth of Rs 40,77,750 (as per market value), in which 1,135 grams of gold ornaments, 5,175 grams of silver along with Rs 1,88,000 cash and LED 21 inches TV, Rado, Titan watches, 7.5 kgs ganja, three iron rods and one jumper from the offender.

The police also arrested another six members who were involved in 38 cases and disposal of the stolen booty, Ch Saradhi, Abdul Rasheed, M Ramana, K Gopala, J Ritesh and P Srinivasa Rao. All the arrested six members were the natives of Bobbili, Vizianagaram district among them Ritesh and Srinivasa were the owners of a jewellery shop while Ch Saradhi having a rowdy-sheet at Maharanipeta police station limits in Visakhapatnam city. 

All the seven will be produced in front of court and city police will file a memo to the court demanding doubling and extension of the punishment as the offender made habituate of serial offences, said Mahesh Chandra Laddha. As the house breaking offences were taking place at high pace, the Commissioner appealed to the citizens to utilise the service of Locked House Monitoring System (LHMS) which was provided at free of cost by the police department.
