8K former AU students to attend WAVES-2018

  • The alumni meeting WAVES 2018 will be held at AU Convention Centre on the Beach Road on December 10
  • Doyen of Indian industry Ratan Tata will be reaching the port city on Sunday night

Visakhapatnam: HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that over 8,000 former students from across the globe had registered online for the alumni meeting WAVES 2018 to be held at AU Convention Centre on the Beach Road on December 10.

After reviewing the arrangements here at the varsity campus on Saturday, he told media that Doyen of Indian industry Ratan Tata will be reaching the port city on Sunday night and will interact with the elite teaching staff of AU on Monday. Later he will attend the WAVES- 2018 programme.

He also said that they were planning to seek the help of Ratan Tata in upgrading Andhra University. The minister had reviewed the pylon arrangements at Convention centre and suggested a few changes.

Meanwhile Andhra University officials along with former students association members were implementing their drafted plans by establishing tents along with huge LED projection screens on the Beach Road to facilitate the former students who were attending to WAVES-2018.

Chairman of former students’ association of AU G M Sharma said that members of association working relentlessly to keep AU on top of board with international standards in competing with other best universities globally. 

The arrival of Ratan Tata will remain as unforgettable moment for many AU students, he added. AU Vice Chancellor Prof G Nageswar Rao, Registrar K Niranjan and other teaching staff were present on the occasion.
