Motorist dies after being hit by lorry

Visakhapatnam: A motorist died on the spot after being hit by a speeding lorry on the National Highway at Marikavalasa junction under PM Palem police limits on Wednesday.

According to PM Palem Circle Inspector P Suryan Narayana, the deceased was identified as Ch Ramana,22, a resident of Boddapalem village in Anandapuram mandal and working as driver in the city.

The incident occurred when Ramana was returning from Vizag towards Anandapuram on a bike. After reaching Marikavala Housing Board Colony on the highway, Ramana hit L Ramunaidu, a pedestrian, who was crossing the road and both fell on the road.

A speeding lorry coming in the same direction hit Ramana and Ramunaidu. In the incident, Ramana sustained serious injuries and died on the spot. Ramunaidu who sustained major injuries was shifted to a private hospital. The police shifted Ramana body to KGH for post-mortem. Police registered a case.
