TDP demands Election Commission of India to disqualify Jagan from elections

Amaravati: As a retaliation act against the YSRCP, the TDP Legal cell lodged a complaint on Tuesday with the Election Commission of India seeking to disqualify the Leader of Opposition YS Jaganmohan Reddy from contesting in general elections for his provocative speech.

The TDP in its complaint stated that, “Jagan asked the voters to demand Rs 5,000 per vote from TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu but exercise franchise in his favour,” in a public meeting.

Pointing out that the comments of Jagan are violating Sections-8A, 9, 123 and others of the Representation of the People’s Act, 1951 and also it amounts to offence under Indian Penal Code, TDP Legal Cell president Ch Ramesh requested the ECI to take both civil and criminal action against the YSRCP president.

TDP leaders alleged that Jagan violated the Election Code of Conduct while addressing the gathering at a public meeting in Anantapur district on Monday. Ramesh, in his complaint demanded that the ECI should save democracy by conducting corruption-free elections in the State.
