Need to protect environment stressed

 Vijayawada: A two-day national seminar on ‘Emerging materials for green environment’, organised by the department of chemistry of Andhra Loyola College commenced here on Tuesday. 

The seminar is sponsored by UGC– APPC Board. The chief guest of the programme was V Madhusudhan Rao and the guest of honour was Dr Ch Subramanyam, professor from Hyderabad.

Addressing the gathering, Madhusudan Rao said that there is a need to safeguard the environment without sacrificing the productivity. He dwelt on four issues which cause pollution: industries, automobiles, excessive use of pesticides and atmospheric pollution.

College principal Rev Fr GAP Kishore in his message said that environmental pollution can be brought under control by planting more number of trees, by saving water, respect towards the mother land and caring for our common world.

Vice-principal Fr S Melchior, correspondent M Sagayaraj, Dr Y Hanumantha Rao (HoD), GV Ramana, KTSS Raju, P Anila, I Gayatri, students and others were present.
