4 held for transporting PDS rice illegally

Nampally: In their attempt to transport the 51 quintals of PDS (Public Distribution Rice) from City to Maharastra, four men were arrested by a team of Task Force.  

The police enquires revealed that four accused persons  Syed Feroz, Majid Baig, Shaik Akheel and Shaik Ghouse, all natives of Maharastra state were regular visitors to the City and purchased PDS rice from the card holders.

They paid Rs 7 per kg to these beneficiaries living in Malakpet, Chaderghat, Chandrayangutta and other localities of Hyderabad and transported the rice after ‘illegal’ procurement to their native place in trains. They sold away the stock to kirana shops, flour mills in Maharastra at the rate of Rs 15 per kg. “They were earning easy money illegally by means of cheating and misappropriating the government property”, said S Chaitanya Kumar, Additional DCP, Task Force .

All the four were caught during a raid conducted at Nampally Railway Station, based on the information of Mohd Nayeemudin, police constable. The accused persons, along with seized property were handed over to Nampally police station, for taking further action.
