Every house must have ISL: Collector

Update: 2018-01-05 05:28 IST

Mahabubnagar: District Collector Ronald Rose interacted with the villagers and learned about various problems and issues they have been facing in the construction of ILs in the village, while inspecting the works of Individual Sanitary Latrines (ISLs) and construction of sink pits in Jingirala village of Devarkadra mandal on Thursday.

He said every individual must take the responsibility to ensure their village as open defection free (ODF) by the end of January. While addressing the gathering in the village, the Collector suggested the villagers to construct soak pits, besides constructing ISLs. With the soak pits, there will be no open drainages in the villages, thus putting a stop to mosquito and house flies menace as the water from the toilets and bathrooms will sink into the ground.

Later the Collector interacted with the masons, who are making cement rings for septic tanks as part of the ISLs construction. He asked them to make the rings at the earliest to ensure the village reaches the ODF target within the time period.
