Niranjan Reddy joins issue with Chinna Reddy

Wanaparthy: Niranjan Reddy, Vice-Chairman of Planning Commission, on Monday hit back at the comments of Wanaparthy Congress MLA Chinna Reddy during the Simhagarjana meeting held in Wanaparthy on Sunday. 

He said despite being in power for more than 10 years during its earlier tenure, Chinna Reddy had done nothing for the development of Wanaparthy. He had not even utilised the funds granted for the development of his own village, Niranjana Reddy said. 

Niranjan Reddy questioned the Wanaparthy MLA to state what stopped him to provide irrigation water to Wanaparthy. “As a Minister did you convince the then Congress leaders to at least provide irrigation water to four acres of land in the district? 

During the past 35 years, the major lake in Killaghanapuram mandal had dried. But today we could provide water to this lake and irrigating thousands of acres of land under it. Why didn’t the Congress government do it and what stopped Chinna Reddy to take up such initiatives,” questioned Niranjan Reddy, taking a jibe at the comments of Congress party leaders during Simhagarjana. 

Niranjan Reddy deplored Chinna Reddy for his inability to include two mandals of Wanaparthy district under the Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation project scheme launched by the Congress government. He alleged that Chinna Reddy is good at acting as a nice person, but he has own selfish goals. 

Niranjan Reddy said at present the government is set a goal of irrigating one lakh acres under four major ayacut in Wanaparthy district. For which the Irrigation Department had already finished works to provide irrigation water to more than 80,000 acres in the district. He said another three ayacut proposals are sent to the government to ensure irrigation water to 15,000 acres more in the district.
