Cop attempts suicide at Suryapet traffic police station

​Suryapet:  A traffic constable attempted suicide by consuming pesticide at Suryapet traffic police station on Friday.

According to  sources, daughter-in –law of traffic constable Damoder Reddy lodged a complaint at Suryapet  rural police station 10 days ago,  stating that  her husband, mother-in–law and father-in–law were harassing her for additional dowry.

Reddy failed to appear before the SI of the Station, Lava Kumar, when he was called. Following this,  on March 16, the police forcibly took him from Traffic police station to Rural police station and presented before the SI. Heated arguments took place between the SI and head constable, which allegedly led manhandling Reddy by SI Lava Kumar.  

Feeling insulted, on  March 17,  Reddy lodged a complaint with Suryapet CI for justice but in vain. Depressed  over superiors silence, on Friday, Reddy consumed pesticide at Traffic police station. Alerted colleagues shifted him to a private hospital for treatment and his condition is said to be critical.
